From my experience in school year 2007/2008
Generally, when it snows, it snows for 2-3 days, then it stops for a week (it'll be cold though, and winds will be very strong if there's a cold front), before it snows again.
Wind chill is a problem here. Winds can blow up to 30-40mph just when trying to walk across campus between Doherty and Baker Halls - but of course there's some indoor paths to take. There's a "Real feel" rating which takes into account wind chill. Typically, under strong winds, the "real feel" can be as much as 10 deg C below the actual temp. Check www.weather.com or www.accuweather.com for more information.
Also, as said by others below, the weather can fluctuate terribly, going up to 10 deg C above or below the range stated due to cold fronts or warm fronts. Also, during my first week at CMU, it poured continuously. It was muddy, wet... but well, the rain eventually stopped.

It's not as wet as Singapore but you still need an umbrella.
It's not as humid as Singapore.
It gets hotter here than in Singapore during the summer(that's why people go to the beaches and take off all their clothes).
It gets way way colder here (It's just a good excuse for you to buy that sexy woolen coat you've always wanted)
It snows here so whip out your snowboards!
People always bitch about the weather here but I think it really isn't all that bad. Maybe that's just me. :)

Spring is really really beautiful! If you've never lived in a place with 4 seasons before (like me before I went to CMU), you'll get to experience it for the first time, and trust me, it's beautiful! All the different sights, animals, smells and sounds! Wonderful!

If you're really lucky, you just might experience the four seasons in a day too!
