When it comes to food, Pittsburgh may not have nearly as much to offer as Singapore, but there are still a few gems. This is a non-comprehensive list of local area restaurants, cafes, and bars where you can grab a quick bite, feast with friends or go on a fancy date.

Oakland, Craig Street

Fuel and Fuddle * : Creative American food, great selection of beer. Serves Sunday brunch. $

Joe Mama's * : Casual American-Italian - serves good pasta and pizzas. $$

India Garden * : Good authentic North Indian cuisine. $$

Mad Mex * : Trendy Mexican restaurant and bar. $-$$

Spice Island : Southeast Asian food with an extensive tea menu. Small restaurant with lots of character, usually crowded. $-$$

Hemmingway's : American food, popular college dive bar. $

Ginza : Family-owned Korean and Japanese restaurant/bar. $-$$

Winner's : Korean takeout. $

The Original Hot Dog Shop (The 'O') : Greasy joint with almost a cult-like fan base. Burgers and hot dogs served with a mountain of fries. $

Dave and Andy's : Local homemade ice-cream. $

Union Grill : Amerian and Pittsburgh favorites. $$

Lulu's and Yumwok : Pan Asian food on Craig St, variety of noodles. $

Eat Unique : Sandwiches, soups, coffee and tea. Fresh and unique. $

Orient Express : Quick and affordable Chinese food close to campus. $

Crepes Parisienne : Cool cafe on Craig St with specialty French crepes, savory and sweet. $

If you're having midnight munchies, the restaurants with a (*) serve entrees at half-price after 11pm on weekdays. Popular among college crowd.

Sun Penang : Southeast Asian restaurant. If you're craving food from home, this is the place to go. Owned by Taiwanese family that runs Rose Tea Cafe. $

Aladdin's : Healthy affordable Lebanese/Mediterranean food. Fresh fruit smoothies. $
